History of 5 Generation(5G) Wireless Technology

The 5G is the fifth generation telecom network used for providing a far high-level performance compare with the earlier generations like 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G.

At present, 5G has specially invented technology for specific uses as well as applications like a huge expansion in mobile data, approximately global connectivity with the growing interest within the IoT (Internet of Things). In the primary stages, this technology is associated with the 4G technology and after that progressed like a completely independent unit in upcoming releases. At present, everyone is talking about the latest mobile network technology namely 5G. This technology provides fast download speed and a more consistent connection.

History of 5 Generation(5G) Wireless Technology

History of 5G:

The history of fifth-generation wireless technology mainly involves in 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G.

1G – First Generation Wireless Technology

The first generation wireless technology (1G) in a mobile phone was begun in the 1980s. It is the first generation in wireless cellular technology. This technology supports only voice calls and it is an analog technology. The mobile phone which supports 1G has poor battery life, less voice quality, small security, etc. The highest speed of this technology is 2.4 Kbps.

2G – Second Generation Wireless Technology

The major upgrade of cell phones is once they went from one generation to another like from 1G to 2G. This technology is introduced in the year 1991, Finland. This technology is introduced call as well as an encryption of text including data services such as images, SMS, MMS, picture messages, etc. Even though this technology is replaced with 1G, and it is still utilized around the globe. The highest speed of this technology using GPRS is 50 Kbps.

3G – Third Generation Wireless Technology

The third-generation wireless technology 3G was introduced in the year 1998. It provides faster data transmission speeds. So this technology is used for internet access in mobiles and video calling. Mobile broadband was first introduced to 3G technology.

Similar to 2G, this technology provides more features. The highest speed of 3G is approximately 2 Mbps for devices like non-moving & 384 Kbps for devices like moving vehicles.

4G – Fourth Generation Wireless Technology

The Fourth-generation wireless technology 4G was launched in the year 2008. It supports HD mobile TV, web access for mobiles, gaming services, 3D TV, video conferencing. The highest speed of 4G is approximately 100 Mbps. For less mobility communication, when the caller is motionless otherwise walking then the speed will be 1Gbps. At present, every mobile supports this technology.

5G – Fifth Generation Wireless Technology

The fifth-generation wireless technology 5G is upcoming technology but it is not implemented yet. So this technology provides quick data rates, energy savings, less latency, connection density is high by improving 4G technology. The expected speed of this technology is up to 20 Gbps for every second.

Thus, from 1G to 5G refers to the generations of wireless cellular technology. From the above information finally, we can conclude that succeeding generations very fast compare with previous ones and includes enhanced features. The upcoming wireless technology like 5G is planned to launch in the year 2020.
