WhatsApp Is Working on a New Contacts Tab
WhatsApp is preparing a dedicated Contacts tab to make managing your phone contacts easier. It brings a few things together in one place:
- Finding people through a search bar at the top, using a name, phone number, or username
- Seeing which friends are online
- Sending birthday wishes
Scheduled Messages May Be Coming Too
WhatsApp is also reportedly testing a way to schedule messages for a set date and time. You write a message now and it goes out later, without you sending it by hand. It is expected to work in both one-on-one and group chats, even if your phone is offline when the message is due.
WABetaInfo reports that the feature is rolling out to some users on WhatsApp beta for Android, version 2.26.40.7. More users could get it over the next few weeks.
How it is expected to work
- Type your message in a chat and hold down the send button
- If the feature is available on your account, an option to pick the date and time should appear
- You can schedule text, links, photos, and videos
- You may only be able to schedule one photo or video at a time
